Our journey kicks off in the bustling city of Bogotá, setting out early in the morning towards Trinidad, a charming town in Casanare. We ride through various reservoirs essential for Bogotá's water supply, experiencing diverse climates and terrains that showcase Colombia's rich topography. We stop for lunch in Yopal, then continue to Trinidad, reaching there by evening.

This day is particularly beautiful. We leave Trinidad and head to La Primavera, located in the department of Vichada. The ride offers stunning views of local wildlife and the unique landscapes of Casanare. The terrain becomes rocky and challenging, with several petroleum reserves along the route. Lunch is a highlight, with traditional llanero cuisine prepared by a local family. We aim to cross the Meta River by ferry at sunset to reach La Primavera.

The third day takes us deeper into Vichada, through vast plains and gentle hills. The distinctive red soil of the region becomes more apparent. We traverse new roads that aid in the region's development, eventually stopping at Bajo de la Culebra, a popular rest spot for locals and transporters. Here, we embrace the rural lifestyle and hospitality of a traditional llanero family.

We rise with the dawn and continue our journey through a rapidly developing area near Puerto Carreño, the capital of Vichada. This leg of the trip is shorter, allowing us to enjoy the morning light and the evolving landscape. We end the day at the Tierra Azul Hotel, a comfortable retreat where we rest, service our bikes, and prepare for the next adventure phase.

Day five is a rest day for both us and our bikes. We take an exciting trip to the Orinoco River, heading to the Ventanas Rapids. This 40-minute boat ride on the Orinoco is likely to offer sightings of toninas, the freshwater dolphins unique to the region. We have lunch in Puerto Carreño and enjoy a free afternoon for relaxation or bike maintenance.

Who asked for adventure? Today delivers! From Puerto Carreño, we head to Garcitas, a small village by the Orinoco River. We load the bikes onto a boat for a two-hour upstream journey, skirting the Tuparro National Park, since riding through the park is prohibited. This majestic river, the fourth largest by volume globally, offers a stunning 40-kilometer ride. Once off the boat, we tackle a challenging four to six-hour ride through remote terrain to reach Garcitas, spending the night with a local llanero family.

Day seven is another thrilling leg, from Garcitas to Santa Rita. We lift the bikes into a boat and navigate upstream for two hours along the Orinoco, paralleling the Tuparro National Park. The Orinoco is a mighty river, and this section of the journey offers breathtaking views. After disembarking, we embark on a four to six-hour ride through unspoiled landscapes to Santa Rita, a small village by the Vichada River, beginning our westward journey back to civilization.

On day eight, we transition from the ruggedness of the plains to the comforts of the 21st century. The ride from Santa Rita to Comarivo is a beautiful journey through the llanos, where we start encountering more modern infrastructure, blending natural beauty with contemporary conveniences.

From Comarivo to Puerto Gaitán, we continue our re-entry into civilization. This leg is mostly on paved roads, though we still face some challenging sections. The day's highlight is reaching the Best Western in Puerto Gaitán, where we relax by the pool, resting up for our return to Bogotá.

The final day takes us back to Bogotá. We enjoy smooth, well-maintained roads, making the ride enjoyable and straightforward. As we ascend from the eastern plains to the eastern Andes, we reflect on the incredible journey, concluding our adventure in the vibrant capital city.
